Student Life
Information for Parents
A strong, respectful partnership between home and school is vital. This policy ensures all communication is clear, professional, and efficient.
The "Admin-First" Communication Channel
To ensure all matters are handled efficiently and logged correctly, the Administration Office is the central and first point of contact for all parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback. This ensures your concern is officially logged, assigned to the right person, and that school management can guarantee a proper resolution.
Contacting a Teacher
- Parents are strictly prohibited from contacting teachers on their personal mobile numbers regarding any school matters.
- For daily, non-urgent notes, please use the student's official Communication Book.
- To schedule a formal meeting with a teacher, you must contact the Administration Office.
Parent Code of Conduct
Sunset Montessori will not tolerate any form of aggressive, abusive, or disrespectful language or behaviour directed at any staff member, student, or another parent.
Information for Teachers
Our faculty is the heart of our school. We are committed to providing our teachers with the resources and professional development they need to excel. The staff portal provides access to curriculum materials, school management systems, and internal communications.

Information for Students
As a student at Sunset Montessori, you are guided by our three core values:
- Respect for Self: Pride in your work, appearance, and health.
- Respect for Others: Kindness, polite language, and respecting personal space.
- Respect for the Environment: Caring for materials and cleaning up after oneself.
Prohibited Items
Students are strictly prohibited from bringing personal electronic devices (mobile phones, smartwatches, games, etc.) to school. If found, the item will be confiscated and will only be returned to a parent/guardian after a formal discussion.
Toys from home are also prohibited.
Food & Meals
Students are not permitted to leave the school campus at any time to purchase food from street-side vendors.
Academic & Grading Policy
Our Hybrid Model
Sunset Montessori provides a unique hybrid education. We blend the child-centered Montessori philosophy with the academic rigor of the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum to ensure our students excel in the BECE and beyond.
Assessment: A Complete Picture
Our teachers use a blend of two assessment styles to get a complete picture of student progress:
- Formative (Daily) Assessment: Our teachers use daily observation, review class exercises, and conduct verbal or visual assessments to track how a child learns.
- Summative (GES-style) Assessment: We use formal Monthly Tests, Mid-Term Examinations, and End-of-Term Examinations to measure knowledge.
Homework Policy
- Preschool (Ages 1.5-6): We assign practical, hands-on "Home Connection Activities" (e.g., counting, drawing, practical life skills) which must be supervised by parents.
- Primary & JHS (Ages 6+): Meaningful "Academic Reinforcement" homework is given daily (Monday-Thursday). Persistent failure to complete homework will be escalated to a mandatory parent meeting.
Academic Reporting
Formal Report Cards are issued at the end of every term. Our reports include both quantitative (GES) grades and qualitative (Montessori) narrative comments on the child's personal development.
Attendance & Timings
The School Day (Official Timings)
- Student Arrival: 7:00 AM – 7:25 AM
- Assembly / Start of Day: 7:30 AM
- Classes Begin: 8:00 AM

Lateness Procedure
A student is considered "Late" if they arrive after 7:30 AM. The parent must escort the late student directly to the Administration Office to sign them in and receive a "Late Pass".
Absence Notification
